Job summary

The YMCA of Metro Atlanta Wade Walker Family YMCA seeks a Level I Group Exercise Instructor to lead land and water fitness classes under the Wellness Director. You will handle music selection, class setup, and educate participants on THE COACH APPROACH and wellness topics.

This role requires a high school diploma, 18+, and current CPR/AED. You’ll log attendance in GroupEx PRO, maintain certifications, attend trainings, and support the YMCA’s commitment to safe, family-friendly programming.

Qualifications

• High school or GED degree required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
• Land and/or water instructors must obtain YMCA/ACE online Group Exercise Instructor Certification and supplemental courses within 60 days of hire date.
• Must pass a criminal background and drug-screening check.
• Must maintain CPR/AED certification and renew it every two years.

Responsibilities

• Carry out daily program tasks related directly to the position’s scope.
• Stay updated on current issues regarding group fitness/wellness programs.
• Promote and ensure group exercise classes run smoothly with high level of service.
• Maintain certifications and continuing education requirements.
• Attend staff meetings and training courses.
• Adhere to risk and safety guidelines and COACH APPROACH®.
