Job summary

A community-oriented fitness center in Simi Valley, CA seeks a passionate Group Yoga Instructor to teach and guide classes. Instructors will promote safe exercise techniques while encouraging members of all ages. The ideal candidate must hold a current Yoga Certification and maintain CPR and First Aid certifications. Qualifications

• Current Certification in Yoga Instruction.
• CPR, AED and First Aid Certification must be maintained.
• Ability to effectively instruct participants of all ages.

Responsibilities

• Instruct and educate members on safe techniques.
• Greet and orient new participants before and after class.
• Ensure proper setup and conduct classes on schedule.
• Monitor participants' health and execute emergency procedures.

Job Location: Simi Valley Family YMCA - Simi Valley, CA

Position Type: Part-Time

Description: Health isn't just an option for you - it's a way of life! Are you passionate about teaching Group Yoga Classes? Are you ready to share your expertise with your community?

Responsibilities

• Educates members on safe techniques and guidelines.
• Greets and encourages all members and orients new participants. Be available before and after class to answer participants' questions.
• Ensure proper setup and be prepared to instruct class.
• Start and finish class on time as scheduled.
• Instructs class to the ability level of the students participating.
• Monitors participants through perceived rate of exertion (e.g., dizziness, chest pain, etc.).
• Executes the Emergency Procedures.
• Works with participants to achieve fitness goals.
• Be aware of regular members and welcome them back if they have been away.
• If a regular member stops coming without explanation, notify your supervisor to discuss the best way to follow up with the member.
• Store all equipment neatly and appropriately.
• Document equipment problems to supervisor.
• Attend instructor trainings and supervisor's meetings.
• Act as an ambassador for the YMCA through professional dress, attitude, communication and behavior. Promote the YMCA in a public forum.
• Performs other job-related duties as requested and necessary.

Qualifications

• Has a Current Certification
• CPR, AED and First Aid Certification must be kept current throughout employment.
• Ability to deal with a diverse group of individuals.
• Ability to communicate with people of all ages.
• Knowledge of safe exercise techniques and principles.
• Ability to effectively demonstrate all skills being taught to participants.
• Possess the ability to follow directions.
• Maintains a professional attitude toward responsibilities, fellow instructors, YMCA staff and members.
• All required online training must be completed prior to hire.
• Criminal record clearance.
