Job summary

YMC is seeking a Group Exercise Instructor to build positive relationships with members and staff, delivering safe, effective classes that suit participant levels and goals. You will greet participants, demonstrate proper form, cue effectively, and maintain a clean, safe workout environment within class times.

You will lead with clear communication to groups of various sizes, support health and wellness goals, and adhere to YMCA guidelines. CPR/AED First Aid certifications are required.

Qualifications

• Certification in CPR/AED and First Aid from ARC, AHA or ASHI.
• 1+ year experience leading Group Exercise classes.
• Trainings within 90 days of hire.
• Fingerprinting/background check as required by policy.

Responsibilities

• Create a positive member experience by welcoming participants and engaging them.
• Demonstrate proper form, offer modifications, and cues for safe workouts.
• Set up and break down class space to maintain a clean, safe atmosphere.
• Foster community by learning names and helping members reach health goals.
• Adhere to YMCA guidelines and communicate with groups of various sizes.
• Communicate effectively to large and small groups.
• Be physically able to lead and participate in exercise activities.
• Respond swiftly in emergencies.
• Other duties as assigned.
