This role involves creating a safe and motivating environment for participants, fostering a sense of belonging, and encouraging personal growth and physical fitness.Key Responsibilities:- Plan and conduct group exercise classes that cater to various fitness levels and interests, ensuring a diverse and inclusive experience for all participants.- Demonstrate and instruct proper exercise techniques, ensuring safety and effectiveness while motivating participants to achieve their fitness goals.- Maintain a welcoming and supportive atmosphere, encouraging participant interaction and fostering a sense of community within the class.- Monitor and assess participant progress, providing feedback and adjustments to exercises as needed to accommodate individual needs and abilities.- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the exercise area, reporting any equipment maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel.- Stay up-to-date with current fitness trends, certifications, and best practices to continuously enhance class offerings and personal expertise.- Collaborate with other YMCA staff and departments to promote fitness programs and encourage member participation in various YMCA activities.- Adhere to YMCA policies and procedures, including safety guidelines and emergency protocols, to ensure a secure environment for all participants.## QualificationsRequired Education:- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.- Certification in Group Exercise Instruction from a nationally recognized organization (e.g., ACE, AFAA, or NASM) is preferred.Required Experience:- At least one year of experience in leading group exercise classes.- Experience in a fitness or wellness environment, preferably within a community-focused organization like the YMCA.- Demonstrated experience in creating and implementing engaging and effective exercise routines for diverse groups.Required Skills and Abilities:- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with class participants and staff.- Ability to motivate and inspire individuals of all fitness levels to achieve their personal fitness goals.- Knowledge of safety and emergency procedures related to fitness and exercise environments.- Ability to adapt exercise routines to accommodate various fitness levels and special populations.- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage class schedules and participant records efficiently.- Commitment to maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
