Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver group exercise classes that are suitable for participants of varying fitness levels.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all class participants by providing clear instructions and modifications as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized workout space, adhering to YMCA standards and guidelines.
- Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages participation and supports the YMCA's mission of promoting healthy living.
- Stay updated on current fitness trends and incorporate new techniques into classes to enhance participant experience.
- Build relationships with members to encourage continued participation and membership retention.
- Collaborate with other YMCA staff to support community events and initiatives related to health and fitness.
- Attend regular training sessions and meetings to maintain certification and improve instructional skills.
Qualifications
Required Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent. A degree in physical education, exercise science, or a related field is preferred.
Required Experience
- Experience in leading group exercise classes, preferably in a gym or community center setting.
- Proven track record of engaging and motivating participants of various fitness levels.
- Experience in developing and implementing fitness programs tailored to diverse groups.
Required Skills And Abilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with class participants.
- Ability to demonstrate and instruct proper exercise techniques and safety protocols.
- Certification in group exercise instruction from a recognized organization (e.g., ACE, AFAA, or similar).
- Ability to adapt classes to meet the needs and abilities of participants.
- Strong organizational skills to manage class schedules and participant records.
