Job summary

INTERA Incorporated in Austin, TX is seeking a self-motivated Field Technician to support groundwater resources projects across Texas. You will assist hydrogeologists and engineers in the field with drilling oversight, aquifer testing, and data collection to deliver high‑quality casework.

The position offers hands-on field experience with groundwater investigations, field instrumentation, and environmental sampling, plus a collaborative team culture focused on safe and accurate project execution.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate/bachelor in Geology or related field preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with pumps, motors, generators, or field instrumentation.
• Ability to maintain accurate field records and documentation; strong written communication.
• Willingness to travel up to 80%, mainly across Texas with some-state work.

Responsibilities

• Support aquifer characterization and groundwater projects in the field.
• Oversee drilling activities and coordinate with contractors; document well construction.
• Assist with aquifer testing including pumping, slug, and step-drawdown tests.
• Install and maintain groundwater monitoring equipment and collect samples.
• Record field data, quality control, and prepare figures/maps for reports.
• Ensure health and safety procedures are followed on site.
