Job summary

Xylem Tree Experts in Nashville, TN is seeking a Groundsperson to support vegetation management operations. You will work from ground level, using handsaws, pruners, ropes, and assist with debris removal, loading, and setting up equipment across utility sites.

This full-time role requires a high school diploma (preferred), a valid driver’s license (CDL preferred), and the ability to work overtime. You must pass a background check and drug screen as required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries preferred.
• Valid Driver’s license required; CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow safe practices and enforce rules.
• Work from ground to keep area clear of debris using handsaws, pole saws, pruners and equipment.
• Set up and break down materials, tools and equipment as required.
• Feed brush into woodchipper as needed.
• Load/unload trucks with logs, stumps, brush, debris; operate assigned equipment.
• Perform basic maintenance on trucks and equipment; report major repairs.
• Safeguard others from hazards and safeguard public.

• Works from the ground to keep work area clear of debris using handsaws, pole saws and pruners, hand pruners, loppers, and gasoline-powered equipment to cut brush and trees.
• Define staging areas.
• Setting up and breaking down material, tools, and equipment as required.
• Prepare and feed brush into woodchipper.
• Loading and unloading trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris
• Operating various trucks and equipment as assigned.
• Perform basic maintenance service on trucks and equipment; keep trucks and other assigned equipment in neat and orderly fashion; report the need for major repairs to truck and equipment.
• Tying knots, rope breaks, and speed lines according to industry standard.
• Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area.
• Flag traffic to protect employees and the public from potential harm or injury.
• Able to work long hours and overtime during emergencies.

This is a full-time position. Specific hours will be assigned by your supervisor. The Groundsperson may be required to work overtime and/or weekends.

Education And Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
