Job summary

Xylem Tree Experts in Texas offers a full-time Groundsperson role focused on vegetation management and safe operation of heavy equipment. Responsibilities include clearing debris, feeding brush into woodchippers, loading materials, and setting up staging areas, with overtime and weekends as needed.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license (CDL preferred), and relevant experience in maintenance or field service.

Responsibilities

• Work from ground to keep work area clear of debris.
• Tying knots, rope and speed lines as needed.
• Operate various trucks and equipment as assigned.
• Load and unload logs, stumps, brush, and debris.
• Prepare and feed brush into woodchipper and set up staging areas.
• Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area.
• Work overtime and weekends as required.

Job description

• Always follow and help enforce safe practice and rules.
• Works from the ground to keep work area clear of debris using handsaws, pole saws and pruners, hand pruners, loppers, and gasoline-powered equipment to cut brush and trees.
• Define staging areas.
• Setting up and breaking down material, tools, and equipment as required.
• Prepare and feed brush into woodchipper.
• Loading and unloading trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris
• Operating various trucks and equipment as assigned.
• Perform basic maintenance service on trucks and equipment; keep trucks and other assigned equipment in neat and orderly fashion; report the need for major repairs to truck and equipment.
• Tying knots, rope breaks, and speed lines according to industry standard.
• Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area.
• Flag traffic to protect employees and the public from potential harm or injury.
• Able to work long hours and overtime during emergencies.

This is a full-time position. Specific hours will be assigned by your supervisor. The Groundsperson may be required to work overtime and/or weekends.

Education And Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries preferred.
• Valid Driver’s license required. CDL preferred.
