Job summary

Xylem Tree Experts is hiring a Groundsperson in the United States, South Carolina area. This full-time role involves operating safe procedures while using hand pruners, pole saws, loppers, and gasoline-powered equipment to manage vegetation and brush.

You will load/unload trucks, define staging areas, and assist with woodchipping operations. The position requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to pass a background check and drug screen; CDL is preferred.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Follow and enforce safe practice and rules.
• Operate from ground to keep work area clear of debris using hand tools and gasoline-powered equipment.
• Define staging areas and set up/ break down materials, tools, and equipment.
• Load and unload trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris; operate various trucks/equipment as assigned.
• Prepare and feed brush into woodchipper; perform basic maintenance on trucks and equipment.

Job description

• Always follow and help enforce safe practice and rules.
• Works from the ground to keep work area clear of debris using handsaws, pole saws and pruners, hand pruners, loppers, and gasoline-powered equipment to cut brush and trees.
• Define staging areas.
• Setting up and breaking down material, tools, and equipment as required.
• Prepare and feed brush into woodchipper.
• Loading and unloading trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris
• Operating various trucks and equipment as assigned.
• Perform basic maintenance service on trucks and equipment; keep trucks and other assigned equipment in neat and orderly fashion; report the need for major repairs to truck and equipment.
• Tying knots, rope breaks, and speed lines according to industry standard.
• Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area.
• Flag traffic to protect employees and the public from potential harm or injury.
• Able to work long hours and overtime during emergencies.

This is a full-time position. Specific hours will be assigned by your supervisor. The Groundsperson may be required to work overtime and/or weekends.

Education And Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries preferred.
• Valid Driver’s license required. CDL preferred.

Position requires employee to be able to pass a background check and drug screen as required for this job.
