Job summary

Xylem Tree Experts and Kendall Vegetation Services are seeking a Groundsperson to support the crew from the ground, ensuring a clean, safe work zone and adherence to all safety rules. Valid driver’s license is required; CDL preferred.

The role includes operating ground equipment, loading materials, and assisting with debris removal. The position is full-time, with overtime and weekend work possible during emergencies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries preferred.
• Valid Driver’s license required; CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety rules to maintain a clean and safe work zone.
• Work from the ground to keep the area clear of debris using handsaws, pole saws, pruners, hand pruners, loppers, and gasoline-powered equipment.
• Define staging areas and set up/break down materials, tools, and equipment.
• Prepare and feed brush into the woodchipper.
• Load and unload trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris.
• Operate various trucks and equipment as assigned.
• Perform basic maintenance on trucks and equipment and report major repairs.
• Tie knots, rope breaks, and speed lines per industry standards.
• Safeguard employees and the public from hazards and flag traffic as needed.
• Able to work long hours and overtime during emergencies.
