Job summary

Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is seeking a Groundskeeping & Maintenance Technician for day shift, Monday through Friday. The role covers maintaining the appearance, safety, and functionality of hospital grounds and facilities, including mowing, landscaping, snow removal, and routine equipment maintenance.

Ideal candidates are dependable, safety-focused, and able to work outdoors in varying weather.

Responsibilities

• Ensures all aspects of preventative maintenance are completed on schedule and according to department standards and procedures.
• Keeps equipment clean and operational.
• Performs troubleshooting and continuous improvement on building equipment and systems as assigned.
• Maintains documentation in regards to facility equipment and systems, ensuring all necessary documentation is current and up-to-date for all applicable regulatory agencies.

Additional Information About the Role

• Day shift Monday - Friday: The Groundskeeping & Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the appearance, safety, and functionality of company grounds and facilities. Duties include mowing, landscaping, street sweeping, trash removal, power washing, garage upkeep, snow removal and plowing, and routine maintenance of groundskeeping equipment. This position safely operates a variety of equipment including skid steers, fork trucks, tractors, mowers, and snow removal equipment, and is responsible for pulling, backing, and maneuvering trailers as needed. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, and capable of performing outdoor work in varying weather conditions while ensuring company property remains clean, well-maintained, and operational.

Role Purpose

Provides Maintenance and Engineering service and responds to service calls throughout the healthcare facility . Performs accurate and effective repairs on equipment and building systems. Calls in more qualified personnel when repairs are beyond his/her capability. Performs other tasks as directed by the General Maintenance Shop Lead and Supervisor.
