Job summary

Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center in Missouri is seeking a Housekeeping Manager to lead environmental services operations, shaping strategy and implementing new solutions to enhance safety and patient care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2–5 years of housekeeping supervisory experience.
• Supervisory experience of 2–5 years preferred.
• Preferred Associate's Degree.
• 5–10 years supervision experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manages hires, trains, assigns work, and evaluates performance.
• Develops staffing, budgets, and responds to business changes.
• Creates effective work plans with required resources.
• Identifies and recommends optimal staffing levels.
• Ensures compliance training and infection control.

Overview

Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and is ranked as one of the nation's top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. Barnes-Jewish Hospital's staff is composed of full-time academic faculty and community physicians of Washington University School of Medicine, supported by a house staff of residents, interns, fellows and other medical professionals. Recognizing its excellence in nursing care, Barnes-Jewish Hospital was the first adult hospital in Missouri to be certified as a Magnet Hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Barnes-Jewish Extended Care is part of the Barnes-Jewish continuum of top ranked, compassionate care. It is a 120-bed skilled nursing facility, located at 401 Corporate Park Drive in Clayton, Missouri. Organized as a hospital-based facility, Barnes-Jewish Extended Care is under the direction of Barnes-Jewish Hospital medical staff with full support of laboratory and rehabilitation departments. Services range from minimal assistance to subacute post-hospital recovery. Our patients range from the young to the elderly, as well as post-trauma rehabilitation patients and those in need of hospice or respite care. The Housekeeping Department at BJEC is responsible for delivering a clean and safe environment of care for our patients and residents.

Role Purpose

Development and management of overall operations and activities of the Housekeeping Department.

Responsibilities

• Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
• Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
• Creates effective work plans, that include, identifying the correct resources, processes and space needed by the work unit.
• Identifies and recommends optimal staffing levels.
• Ensures work unit is trained and evaluated on knowledge and adherence to compliance policies and procedures.
• Handles hazardous and or infectious waste properly and practices infection control.
