Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking a Groundskeeper II in Lubbock, TX. The role includes mowing, trimming, fertilizing, and maintaining flower beds, trees, and shrubs at the State Supported Living Center campus.

You will operate tractors and power tools, perform minor repairs, and support upkeep with other staff. Responsibilities include keeping grounds safe, responding to weather impacts, and assisting in facility maintenance and emergency readiness.

Qualifications

• Experience in groundskeeping work.
• Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent.
• Experience operating power equipment such as mowers, power clippers, tractors, backhoe or pruning shears.
• Prefer six (6) months of work experience in professional groundskeeping.

Responsibilities

• Mowing, trimming, fertilizing, removing and planting trees and shrubs, and planting new flowerbeds.
• Operate tractors with implements for digging out stumps and moving materials.
• Safely use gas- and power-operated tools and perform basic maintenance on equipment.
• Ensure grounds are safe and free from debris, including during inclement weather.
• Support maintenance staff and participate in disaster response or COOP as needed.
