Job summary

Health & Human Services Comm in Abilene, TX is seeking a Groundskeeper I to maintain grounds, supervise staff, and perform repairs. The role supports residents at the Abilene State Supported Living Center and requires readiness for varied shifts and occasional overtime.

Essential duties include mowing, trimming, plant care, and training staff. Must pass background checks; 18+, valid driver requirements; willingness to work weekends/holidays; non-telework.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or work experience.
• Must pass fingerprint background check and pre-employment drug screen.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Willing to work weekends and holidays.
• Must meet facility driver requirements.

Responsibilities

• Performs grounds keeping maintenance duties at the facility including mowing, trimming, fertilizing, removing and planting trees and shrubs.
• Inspects, oversees, and mentors the Environmental Home staff.
• Trains Environmental Home staff on proper techniques and procedures.
• Performs general maintenance, repairs, and construction work for the facility.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Participates in disaster response/COOP activation and may require alternate shift patterns.
