Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking a Groundskeeper II for Richmond, TX. The position involves maintaining and improving grounds, including mowing, pruning, and operating power equipment, with occasional weekend or after-hours calls to ensure safe operations.

Responsibilities include trimming trees, fertilizing, sprinkler system operation, and minor repairs. Valid Texas driver’s license required within 90 days; pesticide licenses preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in groundskeeping work.
• Must possess valid Texas driver’s license or obtain it no later than 90 days after hire date.
• Chemical/pesticide licenses are preferred.
• Flexibility in work hours; may require weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine groundskeeping duties including mowing, trimming, planting and fertilizing.
• Operate tractors and backhoes for landscaping and maintenance.
• Respond to weather-related duties and maintain safety for the facility.
• Assist in disaster response and Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation and related duties.
