Job summary

The University of Toledo is seeking a Groundskeeper 2 to keep campus grounds safe, clean, attractive, and well-maintained. Responsibilities include mowing, edging, fertilizing, weed control, and seasonal tasks such as snow removal and ice treatment.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, 6 months of grounds maintenance experience, ability to follow instructions, valid Ohio pesticide applicator license, and a driver’s license. Overtime and weekend coverage may be required.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent GED.
• Six months of training or experience in grounds maintenance.
• Ability to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to calculate area, volume, ratios, and application rates.
• Ability to work alone with minimal supervision and plan tasks efficiently.
• Willingness to work overtime.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Ohio Pesticide Applicator’s license.

Responsibilities

• Perform grounds maintenance tasks: mow, edge, fertilize, weed, and trim lawns.
• Apply insecticides to lawns, shrubs and trees.
• Maintain parking lots and streets; assist with minor building construction.
• Remove snow and apply salt/alt to ice; ensure safe walkways.
