Job summary

Delta State University is seeking a Groundskeeper II to maintain university grounds, athletic fields, and golf course areas. Responsibilities include mowing, edging, trimming, pruning, watering, and applying fertilizers under supervision, with occasional herbicide/pesticide application.

Qualifications

Must be able to read, write, speak and understand oral and written instructions.
Must have a valid US driver's license and be insurable under DSU insurance carrier.
Ability to operate maintenance and construction equipment including various types of mowers, trimmers, edgers, blowers, power washers, and related tools.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 80 pounds, climb ladders, and work outdoors in temperature and weather extremes.

Responsibilities

Picks up trash and debris from University grounds, parking areas, walks, streets, sports fields, ditches, culverts, and catch basins.
Cuts lawns, trims and edges around walks, curbs, planting beds, and walls using grounds maintenance tools.
Waters lawns and plant materials, applies fertilizers.
Sprays herbicides and pesticides under supervision using sprayers.
Rakes and removes leaves; cleans drainage ditches, culverts, and catch basins.
Maintains the grounds, athletic fields, and campus in acceptable condition; performs other related duties as required.
Must be able to work extra hours and weekends as needed.
