Job summary

The Washoe County School District is seeking a Groundskeeper I to perform routine landscape maintenance on district grounds, athletic fields and outdoor facilities in Reno, NV. The role requires operating mowers and related equipment, basic carpentry, and light repairs under supervision.

Qualifications include six months of landscaping experience and a Nevada driver's license. Training for certifications may be provided. The incumbent may work various shifts and handle emergencies as needed.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months of landscaping or ground keeping experience.
• Knowledge of basic gardening, pruning and landscaping methods.
• Ability to read blueprints and establish working relationships.

Responsibilities

• Plants, mows, trims, weeds, fertilizes and irrigates lawns, flower beds and fields.
• Cleans and repairs sprinkler heads; assists in installing sprinkler systems.
• Assembles and maintains playground and athletic equipment; operates equipment and performs minor repairs.
• Performs general ground cleaning and vehicle/equipment maintenance as required.
• May be called for off-hours emergencies and travel within the district.
