The Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) in Delaware is seeking a Groundskeeper I to maintain state grounds, including lawns, shrubs and trees, while following safety standards. The role involves operating a range of groundskeeping equipment and performing seasonal care tasks as part of a maintenance team.

You will support outdoor event preparations, assist with minor repairs, and ensure clean, well-kept outdoor spaces across designated facilities.

Competenze

Knowledge of operating groundskeeping or landscaping equipment such as mowers, tractors, saws, sprayers, pruners, edgers, grass shears and trimmers.

Performs routine maintenance of lawn, flowers, shrubs, and trees including planting, fertilizing, transplanting, irrigating, weeding, mulching, pruning, mowing, edging, and trimming.
Applies pesticides and herbicides safely and responsibly in accordance with health and safety regulations.
Performs seasonal care such as planting in the spring or leaf removal in the fall.
Maintains driveways, steps, and walkways by removing snow or ice, trash and debris, and may assist in grading and repair.
Operates and maintains equipment including mowers, tractors, saws, sprayers, blowers, edgers, grass shears, and trimmers.
Collaborates with maintenance team on larger projects and assists in setup/cleanup for outdoor events.
May perform minor repairs on outdoor structures and assist trades personnel in painting and other minor repairs.
Communicates effectively with people across cultures and ages.
