Job summary

Groundskeeping position at Abilene State Supported Living Center within the Health & Human Services Commission. The role maintains grounds, mows and trims lawns, and supports residents and staff in a care-focused environment.

The job requires lifting up to 50 pounds, ability to work in heat or cold, and willingness to train others. Regular shifts with potential overtime and weekend hours are expected.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required or worked equivalent.
• Ability to read and understand guidelines, regulations and policies.
• Knowledge of lawn/garden equipment and basic maintenance.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in various weather conditions.
• Ability to train others and work harmoniously with residents and coworkers.

Responsibilities

• Mow, trim, fertilize, and maintain grounds at the facility.
• Inspect and mentor Environmental Home staff and ensure safety.
• Train staff on proper techniques and procedures for groundskeeping.
• Perform general maintenance, repairs, and construction tasks as needed.
• Be available for overtime, weekends, or alternate shifts as required.
