Job summary

Diocese of Camden in Cherry Hill Township is seeking a Custodian/Groundskeeper. You will maintain the grounds, clean common areas, and assist with minor repairs. The role requires lifting heavy objects and knowledge of custodial skills.

A valid driver's license is necessary, and the position involves working with various community demographics. Training will be provided as needed.

Job description

Work independently and/or with members of the maintenance team to police the grounds of the site and remove trash and debris. Accept directions and respond positively to training as relates to custodial work, grounds keeping, etc.

Clean and maintain common areas and office space. Assists in the maintenance of parking lots and other surfaces, including asphalt repairs and minor masonry as required.

Plants shrubs, trees, and flowers: prunes trees and shrubs. Work outdoors during inclement weather – shovels and removes ice and snow from walkways and designated areas. Sprays for weeds and insects using unrestricted chemicals as required.

Attend all training as required by DHSC and participate in cross training as required by supervisor or management. Maintain a standard of behavior and attitude consistent with membership in a faith-based organization.

Qualifications and Requirements

Ability to operate all necessary hand tools to facilitate grounds keeping, to kneel, crouch, climb, crawl, etc. to reach items for repairs. Ability to lift and move from 50 to 100 pounds. Ability to utilize mobile phone for web-based software.

Knowledge of basic custodial and grounds keeping skills.

Must have a valid driver license in good standing, dependable personal vehicle, and valid insurance.

Must have the ability to work with senior citizens, low-income families, and disabled population.

Education / Training / Experience

High School Education required

Training and/or experience as custodian/grounds keeper or trades related.
