Job summary

Queen Creek Unified School District is seeking an experienced grounds maintenance worker to manage lawn care and irrigation across district sites. You will plant, trim, water, fertilize, and maintain grounds while ensuring safe operation of irrigation systems and related equipment.

The role requires five years in landscape and sprinkler systems, blueprints reading, and ability to work outdoors in Arizona weather. 40-hour weeks, with 261 workdays per year, and a district salary schedule.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Valid Arizona driver’s license.
  • Must pass a background clearance.
  • Must obtain an Arizona IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Experience with computers, such as email and work order systems.
  • Knowledge of hand and power tools.
  • Must have five years of experience in landscape and sprinkler systems.
  • Read and understand blue prints and closeout books.
  • Must be able to work outside in Arizona weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Performs the planting, trimming, watering, fertilizing and care of the lawn to all district sites.
  • Responsible for routine maintenance on the drip system, sprinkler system, and irrigation time clocks.
  • Needs to be able to repair timers, control valves, sprinkler heads, pumps, etc.
  • Be able to operate lawn mowers, weed eaters, trimmer, blowers, tractors with their attachments, and pull trailers.
  • Needs to know the basics of designing an irrigation system and explain how it works.
  • Takes care of the lining sports field for football, baseball, and soccer.
  • Makes sure that all district sites have well maintained grounds.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned to advance district priorities.

JOB GOAL:

HOURS:

40 hours per week, Monday - Friday 5:00 am - 1:30pm

CLASSIFICATION:

Hourly, Non-exempt
