Job summary

Queen Creek Unified School District is seeking a part-time Instructional Assistant to support the cafeteria and playground during lunch periods. The role focuses on supervising students, maintaining a safe, orderly environment, and delivering friendly customer service to students, staff, and visitors.

You will follow district procedures, report to the Principal, and help ensure healthy meals and orderly lines.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to monitor and supervise groups of students in a positive manner.
  • Ability to follow directions and school procedures from Principal and staff.
  • Effective communicator and able to work cooperatively with others.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to district policies, regulations, and rules.
  • Must read, write and speak English.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise students and assist in the cafeteria during lunch and/or recess.
  • Ensure student well-being and safety while under supervision.
  • Provide courteous customer service to students, staff, and community.
  • Interact with children in a patient, friendly, and enthusiastic manner.
  • Support healthy eating and school lunch program participation.
  • Help maintain orderly student traffic and disposal of trash.

JOB GOAL

To assist in the maintenance of an orderly, safe and pleasant atmosphere in the cafeteria and playground by helping and supervising students during lunch periods.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to monitor and supervise small and large groups of students in a positive manner.
  • Ability to follow directions and school procedures from Principal and designated staff.
  • Effective communicator and work cooperatively with others.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to all policies, regulations and rules.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Prefer First Aid and/or CPR certification.
  • Must pass a background clearance
  • Must obtain an Arizona IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT

180Days; 9 Months

Per QCUSD salary schedule for applicable position

CLASSIFICATION

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervise students and assist in the cafeteria during lunch and/or recess.
  • Accept responsibility for students well being and safety, as the fundamental value in decision making, while they are in employee's care.
  • Provide excellent customer service skills to students, employees and community.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work with children in a patient, friendly, and enthusiastic manner.
  • Demonstrate interest in the nutrition and enthusiasm for school lunch menu items.
  • Encourage and support healthy eating during lunch through interaction with students.
  • Regulate and assist student traffic in an efficient, orderly manner.
  • Prevent and subdue disorderly behavior, refer disciple problems to the administrator.
  • Oversee that children clear tables and dispose of trash in proper receptacles.
  • Wipe and sanitize all tables before, during and after each lunch period. Assist in cleaning the floor.
  • Perform all duties in a safe and prudent manner.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned to advance district priorities.
