Job summary

Duval County Public Schools in Jacksonville, Florida seeks a Groundskeeper to perform grounds keeping, landscaping, and equipment maintenance, and to assist in preparing athletic fields.

Starting immediately, the role requires a valid Florida Class E driver's license, First Aid/CPR certification, and ability to read and write English. This full-time position includes a six-month probation.

Qualifications

• Valid Florida Class E driver's license required.
• First Aid & CPR certification required before probation period.
• Ability to read, write and understand English at the 8th grade level.
• Knowledge of grounds keeping techniques and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Cleans, plants, fertilizes, sprinkles, mows, edges, and maintains grounds and play areas.
• Trims hedges and rakes leaves.

• Plants trees and shrubbery.
• Assists in laying out athletic fields and sedging as necessary.

Job Summary

Grounds keeping and landscaping work. Maintains equipment. This class lies below that of Tractor Operator.

Essential Functions

1. Cleans, plants, fertilizes, sprinkles, mows, edges, and otherwise maintains grounds and play areas.

2. Trims hedges and rakes leaves.

3. Polices and maintains grounds and picks up trash.

4. Plants trees and shrubbery.

5. Assists in laying out, reconditioning, and readying athletic fields, entailing sodding as necessary.

6. Drives trucks for hauling sand, fill and other materials.

7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Probation: Six (6) months

Licensing: A valid Florida Class E driver's license is required prior to appointment and must be maintained during employment in this class. First Aid & CPR certification must be obtained prior to completion of the employees probationary period and maintained during employment in this class.
