Job Summary
Supervises maintenance and grounds personnel and activities across multiple shops. Coordinates maintenance and grounds services among schools, personnel, vendors, engineers, and contractors. Monitors maintenance and grounds expenses.
Essential Functions
1. Meets with school Principals to address issues, maintenance and grounds needs, and service requirements.
2. Supervises and trains assigned staff, conducts performance evaluations, makes employment and discipline recommendations, and coordinates work assignments.
3. Conduct school maintenance and grounds inspections and provide feedback to schools.
4. Plans, organizes, directs, and coordinates maintenance, repair, grounds and construction work with grounds/maintenance personnel, schools, and service providers.
5. Reviews and monitors work performed by contractors and meets with contractors to resolve problems. Advises the Contract Services Supervisor on service issues and events.
6. Prepares and reviews monthly maintenance and grounds reports to quantify and verify maintenance productivity and cost compliance. Evaluates program efficiency and effectiveness.
7. Prepares operating budgets, authorizes and monitors expenses, and prepares financial reports and summaries.
8. Prepares and assists in preparation of reports, studies, and contract documents required to purchase products or services.
9. Assist in the development, review, implementation, and interpretation of departmental policies.
10. Prepares school ground maintenance schedule to include adverse weather plan.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred in Building Construction, Management or related field, from an accredited college or university. Experience can be substituted for post-secondary education.
Experience: Two(2) years of experience managing, supervising, or coordinating a variety of facility maintenance, repair, and construction functions and projects required. Preferred experience includes working for a large, complex organization with multiple or varied facilities.
Two (2) years of experience directly supervising a large staff of at least twenty (20) employees required.
