Job summary

ISU Research Park is seeking a Groundskeeper to maintain the company grounds around Des Moines, IA. The role covers mowing, edging, litter removal, pruning, and minor repairs to facilities and equipment.

The position requires basic lawn care knowledge and physical stamina to work outdoors in varying weather. Prior related experience helps, but training is provided on-site where needed.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The primary function of a Groundskeeper is to maintain grounds of company property, whether it be industrial, commercial, or public property.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Trim and edge around walks, flower beds, and walls
• Clean grounds and remove litter
• Rake and bag or burns leaves
• Spray lawn, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer, herbicides, and insecticides
• Prune shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth or remove damaged leaves, branches, or twigs
• Repair fences, gates, walls, and walks
• Make minor repairs on equipment such as lawn mower, spreader, and snow removal equipment
• Make minor repairs to and maintains building areas
• Assists office departments with moving and storage of documents and equipment
• Sharpen tools such as weed cutters, edging tools, and shears
• Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma or GED (General Education Degree), and/or one to three months related experience or training
• Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
