Job summary

Xylem Tree Experts is seeking a Groundsperson to support vegetation management crews. This role involves working from the ground to clear brush and trees, load/unload equipment, and assist with job-site cleanup.

Candidates must meet physical demands and safety requirements and be willing to travel for storm restoration work. Responsibilities include operating hand tools and saws, setting up traffic controls, and maintaining equipment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or education equivalent preferred.
• Prior experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries preferred.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain first-aid certification and CPR.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety practices and keep work areas clear of debris.
• Work from ground using handsaws, pole saws, pruners, and gas-powered chain saws to clear brush and trees.
• Load/unload trucks with logs, brush, and debris; feed brush into chipper.
• Lower limbs with hand lines; perform site clean-up after job completion.
• Set up/break down road signs; flag traffic to protect workers and public.
• Drive truck or operate other equipment as assigned; perform basic vehicle maintenance.
• Safeguard workers and public from hazards; enforce safe practices; communicate with team.
• Occasionally participate in storm restoration work.
