Summary
The Grounds Technician is responsible for performing work involving the skills of two or more maintenance occupations to maintain the effective operation of the Haven for Hope property. The grounds technician is responsible for performing grounds keeping and custodial duties in order to maintain the buildings or facilities in a healthy, safe and sanitary manner.
- Follows detailed worksheets and plans for routine grounds keeping duties.
- Inspects grounds daily to ensure adequate upkeep, notes needed improvements. Waters all plants, flowers, and grass on the property by hand, sprinkler, or other methods as needed.
- Pulls weeds by hand or uses weed removal tools as appropriate.
- Planting, fertilizing, and other gardening jobs as needed.
- Performs ground keeping duties to include maintaining grounds, trimming, mowing, edging, etc.
- Cleans and sanitizes all areas of buildings or facilities using established practices and procedures.
- Clean, dust, and wipe furniture; sweep, mop, or vacuum floors; empty/clean waste baskets and trash containers; refill restroom dispensers
- Assist with the setup of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conference events, etc.
- Strip, clean, buff, and apply floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors, vacuum, and shampoo carpets.
- Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools; buffers, auto scrubbers, extractors, high-pressure washers, high-speed buffers and vacuums, brooms, mops, and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, etc.
- Wash walls and keep equipment in proper working order; use ladders when required in work assignments. Secure the building when facilities are not in use. Lock and unlock assigned buildings, report any unauthorized occupants, and turn off lights
- Keeps all related equipment clean, maintained, and stored properly.
- Keeps equipment storage room neat, clean, and organized.
- Completes inventory of supplies and informs the manager when additional supplies are needed
- Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION.
- Minimum: High School Graduate or GED
EXPEREINCE
- 2 years General Maintenance
Knowldege/Skills/Abilities.
- Comprehensive knowledge of grounds keeping, landscaping, arbor culture, and horticulture; grounds equipment operation, pest management, and chemical application laws and regulations; irrigation upgrade/management; reading blueprints and schemes.
- Experience with Irrigation Systems
- Skill in effectively planning and organizing custodial activities
- Bilingual preferred
- Ability to promote efficiency, teamwork, and interaction with staff members.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. frequently; climbs ladders (unassisted up to 8 feet and higher with assistance).
- Shift work may be required, and you must be able to respond to after-hours emergencies

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License, a good driving record, reliable transportation, and proper insurance coverage on the automobile used for work. Monthly reimbursement for applicable and documented work-related expenditures is provided. Travel within the city and its surrounding areas will be required (if applicable).

- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. frequently; climbs ladders unassisted up to 8 feet and higher with assistance

- Works in high places, cramped quarters, and under buildings and in inclement weather (hot, cold, dry, and damp). Walks, stands, kneels, stoops, bends, and squats for prolonged periods
- May be exposed to mechanical and electrical hazards, dust, and fumes
- Shift work may be required, and must be able to respond to after-hours emergencies
Standard physical activity such as periodic standing, walking, sitting, and basic motor skills to access computer files for information or simple data entry.
