Job Summary and Description

This position provides high-level skills in the oversight of grounds maintenance and the supervision of grounds personnel. Specific duties include installing, maintaining, repairing, and inspecting a variety of grounds systems. Additional duties include providing leadership, coaching, and craft-specific technical guidance, prioritizing, assigning, and scheduling work for the grounds maintenance team. Will perform as a working foreman; works alongside grounds employees.

Minimum Education and Experience:

• High School or GED.
• Formal education in Horticulture or related field.
• Five years of experience in landscaping or ground maintenance for estates, parks, or public/commercial institutions, with three years of supervisory experience. Directly related post-secondary education may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis up to two years.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• A formal training program after high school of approximately one year in duration.
• More than five years’ experience.

Licenses and Certifications:

• Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must be insurable through Alamo Colleges’ insurers.
• Must possess, or obtain within one year of hire, a current State of Texas Structural Pest Control Noncommercial Political Certified Applicator’s License or Texas Department of Agriculture Pesticide Applicator’s license. Also, must obtain a Tree Maintenance license from the City of San Antonio.
• May require a valid Texas commercial driver license (CDL) plus all required endorsements, depending on area of assignment.

Motor Vehicle Report is required in addition to background check and drug screen.
