Job summary

Central is seeking a Grounds Technician to support campus maintenance. You will mow, trim, weed, seed, landscape, water, and assist with snow removal, fertilizer and pesticide tasks if licensed.

Operate tractors, mowers, spreaders, and related equipment safely, perform basic maintenance, assist with deliveries and event set-ups on campus, and help keep shops and facilities clean. A High School Diploma or GED and 1 year of grounds experience with a valid driver’s license are required.

• 1 year of grounds experience and valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and operate equipment safely.
• Flexible hours for snow removal or special events as needed.

Responsibilities

Description

Responsible to the Grounds Manager for performing a variety of grounds and general maintenance tasks.

• Responsible for mowing, trimming, weeding, seeding, landscaping, planting, watering, and snow removal.
• Assist with fertilizer and pesticide application (if licensed and certified).
• Operate grounds equipment i.e., tractors, mowers, spreaders, push mowers, snow blowers according to safety requirements and guidelines.
• Assist with basic maintenance of grounds equipment and other general maintenance tasks..
• Complete deliveries, office and furniture moves and resident housing bed bunking based on needs and project assignments
• Support event set-up/tear down on campus/athletic grounds and in campus facilities.
• Maintain clean shops and mechanical rooms.
• Assist facilities staff with projects and tasks as needed

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED and must be able to do simple math functions.
• 1 year of effective experience and valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to use/climb a ladder safely and lift, push & pull up to 100 pounds.
• Must be able to work flexible hours for snow removal duties or other special events as needed
