Job summary

Central College in Iowa seeks a Grounds Maintenance worker responsible for mowing, trimming, planting, and snow removal to keep campus grounds safe and attractive. You will operate tractors and mowers, assist with equipment upkeep, and support event setup and campus facilities as needed.

Required is a High School Diploma or GED, 1 year of experience, valid driver's license, and ability to lift up to 100 pounds; flexibility for snow removal and special events is expected.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Mow, trim, weed, seed, landscape, plant, water, and snow remove on campus.
• Assist with fertilizer and pesticide application if licensed and certified.
• Operate grounds equipment (tractors, mowers, spreaders) safely and efficiently.
• Perform basic maintenance on grounds equipment and tools.
• Complete deliveries, office/furniture moves, and housing bed bunking as needed.
• Support event setup and teardown on campus grounds and facilities.
• Maintain clean shops and mechanical rooms.
• Assist facilities staff with diverse projects and tasks as needed.

Description

Responsible to the Grounds Manager for performing a variety of grounds and general maintenance tasks.

• Responsible for mowing, trimming, weeding, seeding, landscaping, planting, watering, and snow removal.
• Assist with fertilizer and pesticide application (if licensed and certified).
• Operate grounds equipment i.e., tractors, mowers, spreaders, push mowers, snow blowers according to safety requirements and guidelines.
• Assist with basic maintenance of grounds equipment and other general maintenance tasks..
• Complete deliveries, office and furniture moves and resident housing bed bunking based on needs and project assignments
• Support event set-up/tear down on campus/athletic grounds and in campus facilities.
• Maintain clean shops and mechanical rooms.
• Assist facilities staff with projects and tasks as needed

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED and must be able to do simple math functions.
• 1 year of effective experience and valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to use/climb a ladder safely and lift, push & pull up to 100 pounds.
• Must be able to work flexible hours for snow removal duties or other special events as needed
