Job summary

Central College is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Specialist to join our facilities team. You will mow, trim, seed, plant, water, snow-remove areas and support campus landscapes while operating grounds equipment safely.

Responsibilities include basic equipment maintenance, moving office furniture as needed, and assisting with event setup and campus projects. A valid driver's license and ability to lift up to 100 lbs are required; flexibility for snow duties is expected.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required with basic math skills.
• At least 1 year of grounds maintenance experience and a valid driver's license.
• Ability to operate and climb ladders and lift up to 100 pounds.
• Availability for flexible hours for snow removal or events.

Responsibilities

Description

Responsible to the Grounds Manager for performing a variety of grounds and general maintenance tasks.

• Responsible for mowing, trimming, weeding, seeding, landscaping, planting, watering, and snow removal.
• Assist with fertilizer and pesticide application (if licensed and certified).
• Operate grounds equipment i.e., tractors, mowers, spreaders, push mowers, snow blowers according to safety requirements and guidelines.
• Assist with basic maintenance of grounds equipment and other general maintenance tasks..
• Complete deliveries, office and furniture moves and resident housing bed bunking based on needs and project assignments
• Support event set-up/tear down on campus/athletic grounds and in campus facilities.
• Maintain clean shops and mechanical rooms.
• Assist facilities staff with projects and tasks as needed

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED and must be able to do simple math functions.
• 1 year of effective experience and valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to use/climb a ladder safely and lift, push & pull up to 100 pounds.
• Must be able to work flexible hours for snow removal duties or other special events as needed
