Job summary

Cuyahoga Community College is seeking a Full-Time Groundskeeper to perform care and maintenance of college grounds and buildings across locations. The role involves outdoor work in harsh weather, operating various ground-skeeping equipment, snow removal, and routine maintenance of tools and vehicles.

The ideal candidate has two years of grounds care and equipment operation experience, can follow detailed instructions, and is able to work independently with basic IT and office skills.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of work experience in the care and maintenance of grounds including turf and flower beds.
• Two (2) years of work experience in operation of various types of grounds keeping and snowplowing equipment.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to properly use related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Mow and fertilize turf, apply pesticide, and perform general grounds maintenance.
• Operate equipment: riding lawn mower, tractor, front end loader, back hoe, dump truck, roller, power sprayer, stump grinder, cherry picker, trailers.
• Remove snow from roadways, parking lots, walkways, and building entrances.
• Operate snowplow truck, salt spreader, front end loader, sidewalk machine, snowblower, shovel.
• Clean, inspect, and maintain grounds equipment, tools and vehicles; follow maintenance procedures.
• Collect rubbish daily; weed eradication and watering of turf.
• Install and maintain flower beds including edging, mulching, planting, and weeding.
• Install, maintain, transplant, and remove shrubs, hedges, trees and other plantings.
• Maintain and repair athletic fields; measure and paint lines as needed.
• Operate and adjust turf irrigation systems.
• Paint outdoor items in parking areas and pavement.
• Maintain and repair sidewalks, roads, and parking lots.
• Work under direction of Maintenance Mechanic(s) on large projects.
