University at Buffalo is seeking a Facility Operations Assistant 2 (Grounds) in the Grounds department. The role involves supervising staff across grounds duties, overseeing a diverse crew, and performing essential maintenance tasks on campus.

The position requires a valid NYS Class B CDL with tanker endorsement, pesticide licensing within one year, and Clearinghouse account enrollment. Veteran and disability candidates are welcome.

Qualifications

• One year of service as a Facility Operations Assistant 1 (Grounds) or two years of experience and/or training in grounds maintenance work.
• Must possess a valid minimum Class B New York State Commercial Driver's License without an air brake restriction and a tanker endorsement at the time of appointment.
• Clearinghouse account creation is required as part of the application process.
• Category 3A New York State pesticide technician license by appointment time; fully-certified pesticide applicator within one year.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and assist as needed employees in various labor classes within Grounds.
• Oversee a crew including SG-8, SG-6, student staff and others as required.
• Perform grounds tasks such as recycling, garbage collection, street sweeping, parking lot maintenance, equipment operation and athletic field care.
• Support special events and moving services; participate in snow and ice removal as needed.
