Job summary

Binghamton University is seeking a Facility Operations Assistant 2 to lead small crews in grounds care and facilities maintenance. The role requires coordinating Expediting & Recycling crews, scheduling tasks, and assisting the Logistics & Event Services Coordinator.

Responsibilities include moving equipment, responding to shuttle calls, and performing custodial tasks as needed. The position may involve operating light construction equipment and conducting regular spot checks, with a requirement

Qualifications

• Two years of full-time verifiable experience or training in maintenance, custodial, or grounds operations.
• Must possess or obtain during probationary period a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License with Air Brakes endorsement.
• Subject to pre-employment drug test and random screenings.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Expediting & Recycling crews as initial assignment.
• Schedule and assign work to a crew; supervise temporary staff on short assignments.
• Assist Logistics & Event Services Coordinator as needed.
• Move furniture, supplies, and equipment; respond to shuttle calls.
• Perform custodial and snow removal tasks as directed.
• Occasionally operate light construction equipment (front-end loaders, skid steer, backhoe).
• Keep records of labor and materials used; complete periodic spot checks.
• Develop computer skills to use MAXIMO, KRONOS, and purchasing system.
