Job summary

Giants Ridge, managed by Guest Services, seeks a Grounds Maintenance Lead to coordinate landscaping, snow removal, irrigation, and safety inspections year-round. You will mentor technicians and ensure quality work across seasons.

You will work with the Director of Facilities to plan seasonal tasks, operate and maintain landscape equipment, and keep the property safe, clean, and guest-ready for events and daily operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of two years of landscaping experience.
• Proficiency with mowing, trimming, planting, pruning and general landscape tasks.
• Ability to operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment (mowers, skid loaders, plow trucks, snow blowers, shovels, spreaders, irrigation).
• Valid driver's license; Class A preferred.
• English literacy (reading/writing).
• Ability to travel between resort locations; physically capable outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Train, guide, and provide feedback to grounds maintenance and snow removal technicians.
• Plan and coordinate landscaping and groundskeeping tasks seasonally with the Director.
• Perform mowing, string trimming, planting, pruning, and other landscape maintenance tasks.
• Participate in snow removal operations, including plowing, sanding, and salting.
• Operate and maintain equipment safely.
• Assist with inventory management of maintenance supplies and equipment.
• Communicate maintenance needs and project updates to the Director.
• Ensure proper watering and irrigation system operation.
• Maintain cleanliness after events; trash and recycling management.
• Inspect grounds regularly and report issues.
• Document snow removal activities in logs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary:

The Grounds Maintenance Lead assists in the coordination and execution of grounds maintenance tasks, working closely with the Director of Facilities to maintain a clean, safe, and visually appealing property throughout the year. This role actively participates in landscaping, lawn care, snow removal, irrigation system maintenance, and safety equipment inspections while providing guidance to technicians to ensure work is completed efficiently and to quality standards.

Job Description:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Assists in training, guiding, and providing feedback to grounds maintenance and snow removal technicians to support their growth and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
• Helps plan and coordinate landscaping and groundskeeping tasks seasonally, collaborating with the Director to meet maintenance goals effectively.
• Performs mowing, string trimming, planting, pruning, and other general landscape maintenance tasks, delegating tasks as needed.
• Participates in snow removal operations during the winter months, including plowing, shoveling, sanding, and salting walkways and parking lots.
• Operates and maintains various landscaping and snow removal equipment, endure proper and safe use.
• Assists with inventory management of maintenance supplies, tools, and safety equipment.
• Communicates with the Director regarding maintenance needs, project updates, and resource requirements.
• Ensures proper watering of grounds to maintain healthy landscaping, and assists with irrigation system operation and maintenance.
• Helps maintain cleanliness of the property following events, including trash collection and emptying garbage and recycling bins.
• Conducts regular inspections of grounds to identify maintenance needs and report issues to the Director.
• Documents snow removal activities accurately in the snow removal log.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE

• High school diploma/G.E.D. equivalent required.
• Minimum of two (2) years of landscaping experience.
• Proficiency in operating and maintaining groundskeeping equipment, including mowers, skid loaders, plow trucks, snow blowers, shovels, salt spreaders and irrigation systems.
• Understanding of mowing, string trimming, pruning, planting, and general landscape maintenance techniques.
• Ability to travel between locations of the resort. Valid driver's license required, Class A commercial driver's license, preferred.
• Reading and writing work-related documents in English. Ability to read and understand instructions.
• Speech recognition and clarity, including the ability to understand the speech of customers and coworkers, and the ability to speak clearly so that you can be understood by guests and coworkers in English.
• Skilled in prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively to meet seasonal and daily maintenance demands.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

• Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movements from place to place within the unit. Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment.
• Lifting, carrying and pushing up to twenty-five (25) pounds regularly, thirty (30) to fifty (50) pounds frequently, and up to seventy-five (75) pounds occasionally.
• Adequate vision to inspect grounds, operate equipment and detect safety hazards.
• Ability to engage in a wide variety of physical activities including walking, and working on various terrain types, including uneven, slippery surfaces, grass, gravel and snow. Ability to climb ladders and stairs.
• Ability to operate and handle various tools, machinery, and equipment with precision.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as mowing, trimming, shoveling, and raking for extended periods.Must be able to work extended hours outdoors in adverse weather conditions, including extreme cold and heat.
• Ability to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays as business needs dictate.
• Physical presence at the job site is essential to perform job duties.
