Job summary

Challenge Enterprises of North Florida in Green Cove Springs, FL is seeking a part-time Grounds Maintenance worker to care for public spaces and landscaped areas. You will mow, edge, trim, weed, and blow debris, while maintaining the appearance of county buildings and surroundings.

You will safely operate lawn maintenance equipment, perform routine maintenance, and ensure safety protocols are followed. Customer service and teamwork are essential in this role.

Responsibilities

• Mow, edge, trim, weed, and blow debris from lawns, sidewalks, and landscaped areas.
• Maintain the appearance of Clay County buildings and surrounding grounds.
• Perform seasonal grounds maintenance tasks as assigned.
• Complete assigned work according to established schedules and quality standards.
• Safely operate gas-powered and manual lawn maintenance equipment.
• Conduct equipment safety inspections before each use.
• Clean, maintain, and prepare equipment for the next workday.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment as assigned.
• Transport and secure equipment safely during work activities.
• Provide courteous and professional customer service.
• Promote positive relationships with Clay County staff and customers.

Grounds Maintenance

• Mow, edge, trim, weed, and blow debris from lawns, sidewalks, and landscaped areas.
• Maintain the appearance of Clay County buildings and surrounding grounds.
• Perform seasonal grounds maintenance tasks as assigned.
• Complete assigned work according to established schedules and quality standards.

Equipment Operation & Maintenance

• Safely operate gas-powered and manual lawn maintenance equipment.
• Conduct equipment safety inspections before each use.
• Clean, maintain, and prepare equipment for the next workday.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment as assigned.
• Transport and secure equipment safely during work activities.

Safety & Compliance

• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Follow all agency safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain a safe work environment while operating equipment.
• Promptly report safety concerns, equipment issues, or incomplete work to the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor.

Customer Service & Teamwork

• Provide courteous and professional customer service.
• Promote positive relationships with Clay County staff and customers.

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

• Ability to pass a local background check

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous grounds maintenance, landscaping, lawn care, or outdoor maintenance experience
• Experience operating commercial lawn maintenance equipment

Physical Requirements

This position requires routine walking, standing, bending, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and working outdoors throughout the day. Employees must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. Team lifting is required for items weighing more than 50 pounds.
