Job summary

Benedictine College in Atchison, KS is seeking a Grounds Specialist to maintain campus lawns, landscapes and athletic fields. You will perform mowing, trimming, fertilizing, and general landscape maintenance under the Grounds Supervisor, with a focus on quality and safety.

This full-time role requires a valid driver's license, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and flexibility for weather conditions. Work hours are 7am–3:30pm or 6am–2:30pm, with biweekly pay starting at $20 per hour.

Reports To: Grounds Supervisor

Work Schedule: Daytime; evenings and weekends as needed

Amount of Travel Required: Minimal

The Grounds Team maintains the campus lawns, landscapes, sports fields, concrete, water features, etc. in a manner that reflects the highest levels of professionalism. This includes mowing, trimming, trash removal, trimming trees and shrubs, planting flowers, fertilizing, and general landscape maintenance. Must be very experienced in lawn care and landscape maintenance.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Valid driver’s license
• Drug-Free
• Educational background in Horticulture, Turf science, Irrigation Repair or Landscape Maintenance.
• Perform lawn care services, including fertilization, weed control, aeration, seeding, etc.
• The ability to work independently and/or part of a team
• Provide a professional and creative service to improve the appearance of our campus

• Mowing 1 to 2 days per week with a zero-turn mower is possible.
• Willing to learn and be certified on a Bobcat skid steer.
• Ability to work well with others, take direction & be self-motivated.
