Job summary

Didlake, Inc. is a non-profit rehabilitation services organization. The Grounds Laborer – Maintenance role supports federal facilities by keeping exterior areas safe, clean, and well-maintained under the AbilityOne program.

You will perform day-to-day grounds maintenance, mowing, trimming, pruning, and minor repairs, following all safety procedures and site rules. The schedule is 7:00am–3:30pm, with a pay rate of $17.75 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three months experience in grounds maintenance.
  • Must have valid Real ID for site access.
  • Ability to obtain required credentials and background checks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to learn proper use and operation of level grounds maintenance equipment and hand tools.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and wear PPE.

Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day operations of a federal site grounds maintenance contract.
  • Maintain grounds of industrial, commercial, and public properties including buildings, parks, and lawns.
  • Mow grass using walking-type or riding mowers.
  • Trim hedges and edge around walkways and beds.
  • Prune shrubs and trees to promote healthy growth.
  • Apply fertilizer and insecticide to lawns and plants.
  • Plant and water flora; monitor dry periods.
  • Remove leaves and debris; manage waste.
  • Remove snow from walkways and lots; spread salt.
  • Repair and paint fences, gates, and outbuildings.
  • Assist with minor repairs to roadways and structures.
  • Clean comfort stations, offices, workshops, and parking areas.

What You Will Do

  • Perform day‑to‑day operations of a federal site grounds maintenance contract.
  • Maintain grounds of industrial, commercial, and public properties, including buildings, parks, playgrounds, picnic areas, athletic fields, and greenhouses.
  • Cut grass using walking‑type or riding mowers (less than 2,000 lbs ).
  • Trim hedges and edge around walkways, flowerbeds, and wells using hedge trimmers, clippers, and edging tools.
  • Prune shrubs and trees to enhance appearance and promote healthy growth.
  • Apply fertilizer and insecticide to lawns, shrubs, and trees.
  • Plant grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs; water lawns and shrubs using hoses or sprinkler systems during dry periods.
  • Remove leaves, litter, and debris by burning or carting away.
  • Remove snow from walkways, driveways, roads, and parking lots using shovels and snow blowers; spread salt on walkways and other areas as needed.
  • Repair and paint fences, gates, benches, tables, guardrails, and outbuildings.
  • Assist with minor repairs to roadways, walkways, buildings, and mechanical equipment.
  • Clean comfort stations, offices, workshops, and parking areas by sweeping, washing, mopping, and polishing.
  • Ensure correct operation and care of assigned equipment and hand tools.
  • Follow all Contract Statement of Work requirements and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Meet performance standards through timely, accurate work and adherence to production schedules.
