Job summary

Didlake Inc. is a non-profit rehabilitation services organization dedicated to enriching the lives of people with disabilities. The Floor Equipment Operator will maintain clean, safe environments by operating floor care equipment and performing routine cleaning tasks in a community setting.

Responsibilities

  • Operate floor care equipment safely to maintain all floor surfaces.
  • Perform cleaning tasks: sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, scrubbing, buffing, burnishing.
  • Execute maintenance: stripping, waxing, refinishing, polishing.
  • Maintain and report equipment issues.
  • Clean common areas and replenish restroom supplies.
  • Complete documentation accurately and on time.
  • Assist with janitorial duties when needed.

By operating advanced floor maintenance equipment and ensuring high cleaning standards, this position directly supports a healthy, professional, and welcoming workplace for all building occupants.

What You Will Do

  • Operate floor care equipment safely and efficiently to maintain all floor surfaces, including carpet, tile, and hard flooring.
  • Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, scrubbing, buffing, and burnishing.
  • Execute floor maintenance procedures including stripping, waxing, refinishing, and polishing using mechanical equipment.
  • Maintain and care for all assigned equipment; report mechanical issues promptly to a supervisor.
  • Request cleaning supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Clean and maintain common areas including hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, stairways, locker rooms, and elevator areas.
  • Wash windows, door panels, and sills; polish metal fixtures and fittings.
  • Empty wastebaskets, clean ashtrays, and replenish restroom supplies.
  • Complete required documentation and paperwork accurately and on time.
  • Assist with janitorial duties as needed and fill in for other custodial roles when required.
  • May train other staff on proper use, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance of floor equipment.
  • Follow all safety procedures, company SOPs, and organizational policies at all times.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, dependability, strong work ethic, and positive team behavior.
Requirements

  • Strong understanding of cleaning procedures and floor maintenance techniques.
  • Ability to operate and maintain electrical and battery-powered floor equipment safely.
  • Good judgment and ability to follow instructions and safety guidelines.
  • Strong initiative, reliability, flexibility, and a positive team-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to interact effectively and respectfully with people with disabilities.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand simple instructions.
  • Ability to pass a background check.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Prior experience in floor maintenance (e.g., stripping, waxing, buffing, and burnishing floors) preferred.
  • Experience with commercial cleaning equipment strongly preferred.

Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of hard-surface floor care principles and cleaning methods.
  • Ability to safely operate and maintain floor machines and related equipment.
  • Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and technical manuals.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and consistent work performance.
