Job summary

State of Nevada is seeking Grounds Maintenance Workers to perform landscape, garden, and greenhouse duties across campus facilities. Responsibilities include planting, pruning, mowing, watering, and operating irrigation systems, with supervision of a small team where applicable.

The role requires experience with a variety of tools and equipment, plus the ability to plan routine activities and maintain grounds in good condition.

Qualifications

• Two years of grounds maintenance experience using a variety of tools and techniques.
• OR one year of experience as a Grounds Maintenance Worker III in Nevada State service.
• Ability to plan and schedule routine activities and oversee a small permanent subordinate staff.
• Inspect irrigation systems and diagnose malfunctions; schedule irrigation according to events and weather conditions.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on wells, storage tanks, and irrigation controllers.

Responsibilities

• Maintain grounds areas clean and free of trash, fallen leaves, and snow and ice.
• Prepare new landscape sites by reviewing plans with supervisor and installing sprinklers and plantings.
• Perform periodic maintenance and minor repairs on tools, equipment, and vehicles.
• Operate, repair, and install sprinkler and drip systems.
• Perform specialized horticulture tasks such as plant propagation and irrigation in a greenhouse.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
