Job summary

California State University, San Bernardino seeks a lead Groundsworker to provide journeyman level grounds maintenance and lead direction for a team performing landscaping and grounds care.

The role includes coordinating irrigation, pesticide applications, training staff, and ensuring quality and safety standards across campus projects, including turf and tree care. Full-time schedule with day hours and some evenings/weekends; background checks and driver license required.

Qualifications

• Two years of grounds maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of planting, cultivation, and care for flowers, shrubs, lawns, and trees.
• Ability to lead and train others.
• Read and write at a level appropriate to the position.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily grounds maintenance crews and assign tasks.
• Coordinate irrigation and pesticide work with the Irrigation Lead.
• Train staff and supervise safety practices.
• Prepare cost estimates and plans for projects.
• Inspect work to ensure quality and timely completion.
