Job summary

Kitsap Regional Library is seeking a Grounds and Maintenance Worker to provide comprehensive grounds care and building repair support across multiple locations. The role involves routine maintenance, landscape tasks, and hands-on projects requiring electrical, carpentry, plumbing, or painting skills.

The position emphasizes independent work under supervision, adherence to safety protocols, and collaboration with staff to ensure clean, safe facilities for patrons.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, plus three years of experience in building and/or grounds maintenance.
• A valid Washington State driver's license, a safe driving record, and three years of driving experience are required to drive a library-owned vehicle for library business.
• As part of the hiring process, candidates will complete a Job Candidate Assessment Test related to the duties of position.

Responsibilities

• Maintain library owned and leased buildings, facilities, and grounds to include corrective and preventive maintenance activities.
• Maintain irrigation systems, mow, plant, weed, rake, and prune foliage at library owned and leased buildings.
• Perform various skilled electrical, lighting, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, painting, and grounds care functions.
• Transport, assemble, and install equipment, furniture, boxes, and shelving at various library locations.
• Participate in facilities remodeling and repair projects.
• Safely use, maintain, and repair hand and power tools and specialized equipment.
• Inspect library grounds for and remove litter.
• May repair fences, gates, walls, or walkways.
• Maintain walkways for safety and building gutters and downspouts as needed.
• Assist with routine building projects that may include electrical, carpentry, plumbing, painting, or remodeling.
