Job summary

This non-exempt, 40-hour position requires a CDL Class B, forklift training, and pesticide/herbicide knowledge, with potential license within 18 months. Benefits are included.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Three years of grounds maintenance experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English.
• Valid CDL license (Class B) required.
• Must complete forklift course.
• Able to lift/push/pull at least 50 pounds and climb ladders.
• Knowledge of pesticides/herbicides with potential license within 18 months.
• Operate electronic work order system with a digital handheld device.
• Maintain accurate daily records.
• General knowledge of grounds keeping practices and safety.

Responsibilities

• Manage work and safety of 3-4 staff daily.
• Drive truck/trailer between school district sites.
• Maintain truck/trailer and equipment to meet DOT requirements.
• Plan work requests, assign tasks, and keep crew records.
• Report personnel issues to Maintenance Manager/Foreman.
• Report equipment, truck, and safety issues daily.
• Maintain inventory of tools and equipment.
• Work independently or as part of a team on maintenance projects.
• Perform grounds maintenance: mowing, edging, trimming, planting.
• Perform shrub/tree maintenance and pruning.
• Perform pavement and asphalt maintenance tasks.
• Repair fences, gates, and athletic fields as needed.
• Operate various powered tools and equipment; including snow plow truck.
• Ensure proper cleaning/maintenance of equipment and materials.
• Adhere to safe use and operation of equipment.
• Assist Operations/Maintenance personnel as assigned.
• Maintain regular on-time attendance.
• Perform related work as required.
