Job summary

Penn Line Tree Service, Inc. is seeking a Groundhand to assist crews in clearing trees and branches that interfere with communication and power lines. You will help hoist tools, position ladders, and load debris while traveling to various state sites.

The role requires physical work, willingness to travel, and adherence to safety protocols. A valid driver's license is preferred and overtime may be required during storm duties.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform physically demanding groundhand tasks.
• Willing to travel across PA, MD, OH, VA, WV as required.

Responsibilities

• Assist crews in clearing trees and branches interfering with lines.
• Hoist tools and equipment to crew members.
• Lower branches with rope or block and tackle.
• Position and steady ladders for work at height.
• Saw, cut and mulch branches as needed.
• Load debris, trunks and limbs onto trucks; operate winch.
• Chip brush with chipper and manage debris flow.
• Carry chainsaws, gas cans and oil jugs.
• Flag traffic as required using stop/slow paddle and two-way radio.

Job Description: A Groundhand's primary responsibility is to assist crews in clearing trees and branches that interfere with communication lines and electric power lines. Other duties include hoisting tools and equipment to crew members and lowering branches with rope or block and tackle; positioning and steadying ladders; sawing and cutting up branches; loading debris, tree trunks and limbs onto trucks (using winch and chipping brush with chipper); carrying chainsaws; carrying gas cans and oil jugs; cutting, dragging, and mulching brush. May also flag traffic utilizing stop/slow paddle and two-way radio. A Valid Driver's License and/or CDL License is preferred.

Work Schedule: 4 -10 HR days, either; Monday thru Thursday or Tuesday thru Friday with periods of mandatory overtime. Employees are also required to work emergency storm duty as need arises.

Rate of Pay: Varies depending upon Skills and Experience.

Work Area: Travel required throughout various states including PA, MD, OH, VA, & WV Candidates must be flexible to travel when called upon since work locations are subject to change upon short notice based on contract demands.
