Job summary

Penn Line Tree Service is seeking a Groundhand to support line clearance crews. You will assist with clearing trees and branches near power and communication lines, hoist equipment, and help load debris. Travel across several states may be required.

Responsibilities include ladder positioning, cutting brush, flagging traffic, and supporting crews in various weather conditions. CDL or valid license preferred; a drug-free workplace is maintained.

Qualifications

• Experience in line clearance operations and safety procedures.
• Ability to hoist tools and equipment to crew members.
• Comfort with travel to multiple states as required by contracts.

Job description

Job Description: A Groundhand's primary responsibility is to assist crews in clearing trees and branches that interfere with communication lines and electric power lines. Other duties include hoisting tools and equipment to crew members and lowering branches with rope or block and tackle; positioning and steadying ladders; sawing and cutting up branches; loading debris, tree trunks and limbs onto trucks (using winch and chipping brush with chipper); carrying chainsaws; carrying gas cans and oil jugs; cutting, dragging, and mulching brush. May also flag traffic utilizing stop/slow paddle and two-way radio. A Valid Driver's License and/or CDL License is preferred.

Work Schedule: 4 -10 HR days, either; Monday thru Thursday or Tuesday thru Friday with periods of mandatory overtime. Employees are also required to work emergency storm duty as need arises.

Rate of Pay: Varies depending upon Skills and Experience.

Work Area: Travel required throughout various states including PA, MD, OH, VA, & WV Candidates must be flexible to travel when called upon since work locations are subject to change upon short notice based on contract demands.
