Job summary

Penn Line Tree Service, Inc. is seeking a Groundhand to support crews clearing trees and branches around power lines. Travel across PA, MD, OH, VA and WV is required; candidates must hold a valid driver's license and be able to lift heavy loads.

You will assist with hoisting, rigging, ladder work, debris removal, and operating the winch and chipper. Overtime during storms and a drug-free workplace are expected, with encouragement for minorities and women to apply.

Responsibilities

• Assist crews in clearing trees and branches that interfere with lines.
• Hoist tools and equipment to crew members and lower branches with rope or tackle.
• Position and steady ladders; saw and cut branches; load debris and trunks onto trucks.
• Operate winch and chipper; carry chainsaws, gas cans and oil jugs; mulch brush.
• Flag traffic as needed and use two-way radio for coordination.

Job Description: A Groundhand's primary responsibility is to assist crews in clearing trees and branches that interfere with communication lines and electric power lines. Other duties include hoisting tools and equipment to crew members and lowering branches with rope or block and tackle; positioning and steadying ladders; sawing and cutting up branches; loading debris, tree trunks and limbs onto trucks (using winch and chipping brush with chipper); carrying chainsaws; carrying gas cans and oil jugs; cutting, dragging, and mulching brush. May also flag traffic utilizing stop/slow paddle and two-way radio. A Valid Driver's License and/or CDL License is preferred.

Work Schedule: 4 -10 HR days, either; Monday thru Thursday or Tuesday thru Friday with periods of mandatory overtime. Employees are also required to work emergency storm duty as need arises.

Rate of Pay: Varies depending upon Skills and Experience.

Work Area: Travel required throughout various states including PA, MD, OH, VA, & WV Candidates must be flexible to travel when called upon since work locations are subject to change upon short notice based on contract demands.
