Job summary

Caterpillar is building a new advanced manufacturing campus in Sanford, North Carolina, to expand production. The Facilities Project Electrical Engineer will lead the electrical facilities workstream from design through startup, coordinating with multiple internal partners and external firms to ensure a safe, production-ready facility.

You will manage scope, schedules, and risks, oversee commissioning and system integration, and provide clear progress updates to leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering and PE licensure are preferred.
• Experience supporting facilities, building systems, or industrial engineering projects.
• Executive-level communication skills to translate engineering topics for leadership.

Responsibilities

• Review, challenge, and approve technical drawings and design changes from external partners.
• Manage scope, schedules, risks, and commissioning plans across multiple internal and external teams.
• Resolve issues through root cause analysis and verified corrective actions.
• Translate manufacturing needs into scalable facility designs and standards.
• Coordinate planning for acceptance testing, energization, and startup.
• Provide concise updates on progress, risks, and key decisions to leadership.
• Lead integration of building management systems and digital facility solutions.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in engineering

Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
