Caterpillar is hiring a Facilities Project Civil Engineer for the Sanford Advanced Manufacturing site in North Carolina. You will lead civil facilities engineering from initial design through startup, coordinating internal teams, consultants, and contractors to deliver a state-of-the-art manufacturing campus with automation and digital systems.

You’ll ensure safety, quality and operational readiness across the project.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.
• Demonstrated experience supporting facilities, building systems, or industrial engineering projects.
• Executive-level written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• Experience supporting a advanced manufacturing facility, plant startup, major expansion, or complex capital program from early design through operational handoff.
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
• Experience with LEED requirements or certification.
• Experience working within facilities with high standards related to building conditions, environmental stewardship, safe work practices, and continuous improvement.

Aufgaben

• Review, challenge, and approve technical drawings, specifications, calculations, design packages, and changes from external engineering partners.
• Manage scope, schedules, estimates, risks, changes, action items, commissioning plans, and operational readiness.
• Resolve issues through containment, root cause analysis, corrective action, testing, verification, and documented closure.
• Translate evolving manufacturing needs into facility designs, technical standards, and scalable solutions.
• Integrate building management systems, utility monitoring, automated controls, and data.
• Use BIM, digital coordination, and commissioning records to guide decisions and improve startup performance.
• Coordinate acceptance testing, system energization, and turnover processes.
• Provide concise updates to leadership on progress, risks, and decisions.
