Layton Construction is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support planning, management, and execution of ground-up commercial construction projects. This is an on-site role with relocation to project sites nationwide and may involve multiple projects at once.

You will assist in budgets, schedules, subcontracts, and owner relations while promoting The Layton Way and Constructing with Integrity. Strong communication and problem-solving are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3+ years of experience in ground-up commercial construction projects.
• Excellent communication skills and strong negotiation abilities.
• Understands construction laws, codes, and reads blueprints.
• Maintains Layton ethics and policies.
• Strong problem solving and analytical abilities.
• Collaborates well with colleagues and clients to achieve goals.
• Able to plan, allocate resources, and manage time effectively.
• Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Professional affiliations (e.g. AGC) and credentials (e.g. PE) preferred.
• Spanish commands in construction context are a plus.
• Strong computer and technical skills; quick to learn new software.

Responsibilities

• Assists in planning, management, and execution of construction projects.
• Supports preparation of estimates, budgets, and cost reports.
• Organizes pre-construction planning meetings and coordinates subcontracts.
• Assists in project scheduling and milestone tracking.
• Develops and reviews project pay requests and ensures timely billing per contract terms.
• Manages project material procurement within budget and schedule.
• Supports quality, safety, and risk management plans.
• Coordinates close-out procedures including drawings, warranties, and occupancy.
